Why is Affiliate Marketing So Popular?

In the last few years on the Internet, there has been a giant boom in the Affiliate Marketing business. But what makes this business any different than any other, and why has it grown at the rate that it has?

The First reason is leverage. Think of leverage as one person doing work for a short period of time but being paid for it over and over again. This is true for the marketer and for the creator of the product. The product creator puts his product together, his sales page, and his affiliate program. He then goes out to recruit as many affiliates to sell his product as possible. In this way he is paid for the efforts of others. To some it may not seem “fair” but if you look closely, most digital affiliate products pay out as much as 80% to the referring seller. Taking only 20% for your own product and giving the rest to the seller seems like a very fair trade to me.

It will convert at or very near the same rate month after month, year after year.

Third, it is not difficult to market a good product. There are so many avenues available to Affiliates that a good product can bring in several hundred dollars or more a month. If that effort is repeated on a consistent basis, it is not difficult to see why there are literally people making 6 and 7 figures online selling other people’s products.

Lastly, it is just about the ultimate home based business. It requires very little start-up cost, there is no inventory, and the products you sell you get for free! What business is better than that? The only way you can sell most things from home is to keep them in stock or have them drop shipped from other locations. Affiliate marketing handles all of the stocking, and shipping (if necessary) for you. As an affiliate marketer, your only job is to drive traffic to the website you are promoting, be it through email, signatures, or a website. It really is a great business to run from home, and all you need is a computer and an Internet connection.
