What Does Your Network Marketing Prospect Really Want

A frequent response I get when I ask someone why they decided to pursue a home-based business is that they want to make more money, or they want to be wealthy, or they want financial freedom.

However, this is actually not what they want.

An old friend informed me a few years ago that MONEY IS ENERGY.

Consider that for a moment.

Let us say you ask someone what would make their lives better or more exciting. The person replies, "Electricity. More electricity would be great. That would make my life easier and more interesting."

So, you toss them some batteries. They now have extra electricity in their life. Is that really what they wanted?

Is that something that makes their lives more enjoyable?

I think we can agree that it won't. What they really want is electricity FOR THE PURPOSE OF running a coffee maker, the TV, the computer, lights, the washer and dryer, and all of the other things that make our lives better and more enjoyable.

Money is sort of like batteries. It has POTENTIAL energy.

You CANNOT hold electricity, and you CAN’T hold money.

You can grasp a battery.

You can hold a piece of paper or a coin.

But if you place either on a table and leave them there, neither of will make your life any better.

It is what we actually DO with that POTENTIAL energy that makes our lives better.

When your prospect says that they want to earn more money, or that they want to be rich, then are good that they have a specific picture in their head about what that will look like. They might imagine a bigger house, a nicer car, freedom from their company job, or spending more time with their family.

THAT is what you need to get your prospect to tell you about.

THEN you can back into the amount of money that will require.

When I first got involved in network marketing, it was not to earn millions of dollars. All I wanted to do was get my freedom from my job.

I saw myself sitting on the front porch sipping a mug of joe while everyone else was sitting in traffic drinking coffee from a paper cup. I envisioned myself taking a vacation whenever I wanted to, without having to ask for permission or carefully leveraging vacation time around long weekends. I envisioned myself shopping for and enjoying the holidays while everyone else was stressed because of the limited time they had due to work requirements.

That’s what I wanted from MY own business.

What’s your prospect’s dream?

What does their life LOOK like once they have become financially independent? What are they frustrated with now that running a home business could give them liberty from? What do they fancy MORE of that running their own business could get them?

In many cases, it will NOT take a LOT of wealth for your prospect to achieve their dream!

Many people neither need nor want a huge house or an expensive luxury car. Most people do not like boating enough to want a fast speedboat. Many don’t want an exclusive country club membership. Many would not know where they would travel even if they owned a private helicopter.

Once they SEE the life they would like, the majority will NOT see themselves living like a king or a queen with all the fancy robes and palaces.

They will see themselves at the beach with their family on a beautiful spring day. They will imagine themselves fishing on a serene Tueday morning. They will see themselves enjoying a late morning in bed. They will envision themselves golfing or going to a baseball game with family and friends. They will imagine themselves enjoying the holiday season without any financial stress.

Your prospect will have things they LOVE to DO.

What if you could help them get more of THAT?

When you are discussing your prospect's future, jot down their dream. Repeat their goals back to them to make sure you've got it right. Then email it to them so that they have a copy of it.

And then help them ACHIEVE that dream!
