Search Engine Marketing | How Blog Comments can Boost Your Traffic. By Mike McCoy

By:

This article will focus on ways you can get more and give more with blog comments. I will describe a few of the things that make your blog comments stand out and how to gain some traffic from this practice. This is especially important now with the popularity of blogging and the number of people that read blogs on a day to day basis.
" Relevant Comments: This is the most important thing I will discuss in this article. So many blog comments today are nothing but spam from people trying to build backlinks to their web pages. You should always try to leave relevant commentary on any blog you are on - it helps in many ways. First it does help your traffic with backlinks, plus it helps the blogger you are commenting on because all comments assist the blogger to see what posts are more helpful and start more discussion.
" Size matters: Everyone knows the story of Goldilocks and the three bears. The same theory applies to blog comment length. You don't want too short, but also not too long - you need to try and find the length that is just right. As a personal guideline I try to keep my blog comments between 3 and 5 lines. If your comments are under this length you will appear to be spammy and if your comments are too much over this length then you should go ahead and start your own blog.
" Leave contact info: One of the main things you should be aware of when commenting on a blog is the importance of leaving your contact information behind with EVERY blog comment. Most blogging services will make the username you leave the anchor text for a link leading to your webpage. If this is not the case then you should be sure you leave the URL of your webpage on the comment. This will allow people who are interested in what you have to say to read more of your insight and commentary on the niche.
One more thing I want to say is about the use of blog commenting robots. These are programs that either post on your blog for you or search the net for blogs to comment on to provide automatic backlinks to your site. I DO NOT advise ever using these. Bloggers can tell you are using a robot because they talk like robots. This will get all your blog comments deleted as soon as possible and cause nothing but more work for your fellow bloggers.
