Rewriting PLR Ebooks and Articles: Who Will Do the Work?

By: Ronnie Jones

PLR (Private Label Rights) ebooks and articles are potent materials for making an online business truly successful; or, if already lucrative, even more so. By exploiting texts that are already written, one may speed up the process of disseminating those texts in different places: as online ebooks, articles, and even as printed books.

The trouble is, however, that exploiting PLR content is not as trouble-free or swift as many are trying to make it sound. For example, those who market PLR content, and those who do business in the PLR world, many times want to say that the process of using PLR content is a simple road to victory. But that's not necessarily the case.

The Problem

The problem is this: in order to make the most of it, one has to really edit the PLR content considerably, not just a little. This is to ensure that the search engine robots will index the material favourably, and to make sure that the audience are not faced with articles and ebooks that they have already read somewhere else.

So the challenge is to rewrite the material substantially. One might rearrange paragraphs or even erase paragraphs. Or one could enlarge paragraphs or add new questions, points, arguments, reasons, or data. Or one could decide to include pictures, illustrations, photographs, or videos. Or just about anything to make the article or e-book have a special feel.

But Who Has the Time to Do It?

But perhaps are you now asking yourself: "How in the whole world can I practically have time for that? After all, I bought the Private Label Rights products in the first place to keep away from having to do a lot of work. So why am I now confronted with the very same work that I tried to stay away from?"

It is correct, of course, that the sort of work involved in modifying a PLR e-book or article may be similar. However, the actual quantity of work is not very similar. Modifying a PLR article or PLR e-book, even with a rather all-embracing rewrite, is much less time-consuming and aching than writing the whole thing from scratch.

In addition, you may not need to do all that modifying yourself either. You may use the help of other parties to complete the editing process.

Here are some interesting alternatives so that you can get the modifying of your PLR article or e-book completed: (1) Use software; (2) Contact a ghostwriter; (3) Use a guest blogger; (4) Do the writing yourself.

1. Use Software

Some software products might be used to change (so-called "spinning") PLR e-books and PLR articles to generate new ebooks and articles. But you should be very careful. Some software packages could change the "style" of the article or e-book, or use badly selected synonyms for expressions that either can convert your ebook or article into gibberish or at least make it appear odd in some sense.

It is therefore nearly at all times essential to check the newly generated content manually after it has been processed by the software. It is quite likely that you may have to do a new round of editing after the text has been "spinned".

2. Appoint a Freelancer

Appoining a skilled freelancer to produce entirely original content to your website could be virtually impossible for a new site owner, since truly original content could be quite costly.

Nevertheless, since you already have picked up the PLR content, the task is not to produce inventive content from the ground up, but just to do some rewriting using different words, and perhaps also elaborating on a few of the data in various places.

It could be a useful idea to collect a dozen or two private label rights articles at a time (or a whole PLR e-book), and then ask your ghostwriter for a "package price" for the full set. That way you may be able to get a better quote per paragraph than if you just submitted one or two separate articles.

3. Call a Guest Blogger

Perhaps you may like to use a guest blogger to write on your blog? You might tell him or her that you have Private Label Rights material that she or he could draw on. In that way you might be able to generate new material for your site without you doing any rewriting and rearranging of your own.

One problem with this idea might be, of course, that the external writer may expect to get paid, or to be able to include some links to their own sites and blogs, or ask for some other compensation. In each case, you will have to see what they ask for, and then determine whether or not you think the unique arrangement is suitable for your purposes.

4. Write It All On Your Own

In case you are very much into writing and editing (or at least are willing to do it even though you do not enjoy it), you might consider doing all (or some of) the rewriting yourself. At any rate, rewriting a quality PLR article or e-book is significantly less problematic than composing everything from the ground up.

The advantage of doing the job yourself is that you have total control over the end product, both stylistically as well as in terms of content. Supposedly you also have much knowledge of whatever area it is that your articles and ebooks are covering, and thus you will probably be capable of editing the private label rights texts quicker and better than a writer who doesn't have your particular background.

Summing Up

PLR e-books and PLR articles are great assets. However, they have got to be considerably edited to be lucratively used in your internet business.

The good thing about all of this is that you don't necessarily have to do all of the rewriting yourself (but the outcome may be superior if you do do it). Other ways to produce a modification of the Private Label Rights content may be to utilize some "spin" software program, to hire freelance ghost writers, or to use a guest blogger.

So go right ahead and stuff your site or blog with great, uniquely rewritten and sensitively repurposed PLR content. Your customers will love it!
