Online Network Marketing Lead Generation Tip #4 – Article Marketing Traffic Generation

If you enjoy writing or have specialized expertise in your field to teach, then article marketing may the perfect traffic generation strategy for you. As with other strategies discussed in this series - video, email, and social media - you need to be prepared for some trial and error and you must make a long-term commitment to the technique. Five articles doesn't constitute a commitment. Think in terms of 50-100 articles of 400 or more words each. Sound frightening? Keep reading anyway because this is surely the most powerful traffic generation strategy in the whole series.

Once you post an article, it will be there for years, decades or even longer. That means it is backlinking and sending traffic to your site for years to come. Unlike email marketing, article marketing has a cummulative effect. So invest in good content and learn to distribute it broadly. The Internet features lots of free, high traffic article and resource sites that index article content at no charge.

These directory websites get very strong natural Google search results because they have a long history online combined with highly organized hierarchy, depth of content and lots of text. You can piggyback on this top position and drive significant traffic to your website by getting your articles carried in these directories.

You’ll need to develop article ideas that will be relevant to your desired target markets and compelling enough for them to click back to you. And then you’re going to have to submit the articles to the websites that carry them. In my experience proper article marketing can deliver thousands of visits per month to my sites.

Articles are currently indexed for free at hundreds of existing article directories. You’ll have no way of knowing which ones are best in driving traffic, and it would take years of trial and error and countless hours to find the ideal websites. That said, there are a few standouts that should be included on any shortlist - EZine Articles, Articles Base, Buzzle and SearchWarp.

There are automatic article submission programs that will let you reach out to large numbers of directories with very little manual work. That’s right, technology is your friend once again. There are a variety of inexpensive tools that make the article creation and submission process a fast, streamlined, efficient process.
