Offer your visitors and customers something that your competitors don't or can't offer. This could be anything from free shipping to just a free valuable e-book related to your industry. People are very mobile on the internet - if you don't give them good reason to stay on your website, they will quickly go to your competitor's site instead.

Tips #2: Track

One of the most powerful aspects of online marketing is the ability to do extensive tracking of customers in real time. With the right tracking software, it is very easy to know exactly where your customers came from, which ad they clicked on, which pages on your site they visited, which page converted them, how much that conversion cost you, etc.

With good tracking data, you can easily manage and adjust marketing efforts to maximize your profitability.

Tip #3: Leverage

If you want to have long term, dependable success, you need to leverage your traffic. Without leverage, your traffic can go up and down drastically, depending on your search engine rankings, or other factors.

There are two ways to leverage your traffic:

The first is by creating an email list. If you can get your visitors to signup for your email newsletter, then you can make sales to those visitors long after they have left your site. A well built list can become a powerful marketing resource over time, too.

The second way to leverage traffic is through an affiliate program. This way, instead of directly promoting your site, you promote your affiliate program. Once you recruit a good affiliate, they can bring you sales for years.
