Its Not About Your Products, Its About YOU!!

You're so excited! You just went to a meeting about a home based business opportunity and you'll soon be rich! You have bought a fantastic box of products and you cannot wait to tell everyone about them! By the time you arrive home, you are glowing so you quickly tell your other half about this money making scheme.

Your views are not shared with your other half! "You've spent how much money...?" they say. "What on earth possessed you? We cant afford that." You try to explain how easy it is and how wonderful life is going to be, but you just cant explain it like the lady at the meeting. "You'll see, when I show my friends tomorrow" you say bravely.

The next day your start making phone calls to your friends to get some support. The first friend tells you that her cousin used to do that business, but she packed it in. The second friend listens for a while then starts repeating what your partner said. You then ring all your friends and after 2 exhausting hours you only have one friend who agrees to have a quick look 'sometime'.

The problem is that in Network Marketing you are told to tell everyone about your products; friends, neighbours, anyone who comes within 3 feet of you! So when a network marketer decides to search for leads on the internet, they throw their products into everyone's face! That is not how it works online. In fact it does't work very well offline either! Marketing online is not about your products, we all have products of some description; what you need to market is YOU!

Because people do not buy a product, they buy YOU. It is all to do with psychology. If you did not like the look of someone, you would not buy from them. But if you thought they were nice, or you were drawn to them and they were offering something you wanted then maybe you would. Online, when someone needs a mentor, they look around for someone to appeals to them. I personally find people my own age far more interesting; however my daughter who is in her 20's is more drawn to people her own age who she feels she would get on well with.

So how can I sell my products, or my business opportunity I can hear you say? On the internet you sell yourself first and your opportunity later. You put up a nice picture of yourself and you connect with people and when you have built up some sort of a relationship, what you do for a living will come up in the conversation and then you can show other people what you are doing or how your products can help them. Some will ask, some will not. If you ask them what they do for a living, more often than not they will ask you back.

It is not acceptable to put adverts all over the net. You would not ask everyone at a party to join your business, so why do it here? You just would not do that. So dont do it on facebook or any other social media sites. Open you eyes and look at all the blatant adverts - what is there to distinguish between them? After you have seen a few, you stop looking. You must sell yourself. If people can see that you are worth knowing, that you give value and will help them, they may be attracted to you and want to know more about your business or products!
