Is Teaching Marketing Skills To Network Marketers Not Duplicatable?

By: Wayne Wu

Have you ever been in this situation? Straight after you signed on the dotted line to become a new distributor, your upline sat you down and got you to write out a warm marketing list? That list of 100 of your friends and family?

Some uplines will even put their new distributors right on the spot by getting them to call their list right then and there. Instinctively most new distributors know that it's not a good idea to be prospecting their friends and family about a business opportunity. And guess what? It's not!

This is the way most network marketing companies do business and it produces appalling results. The thing angers me about this approach to building an MLM is the truth is obstructed from the new distributor. They don't provide you with the years of training you need - all they tell you is you can be successful if you just show the plan to as many people as you can and get three just as driven as you!

When I joined my first MLM company, all I saw was the polished "veneer" and it was really exciting! You know, people wearing suits at opportunity meetings, diamonds telling inspirational stories on the stage and showing pictures of their Mac Mansions, amazing holiday destinations, all that glitzy stuff to keep you motivated, keep your dream alive when you know you haven't got a chance.

The struggling new distributor sees the "billion dollar company", the shiny buildings and the glamour and thinks "wow, I'm surrounded by all this success, it must work, it must ME that's not good enough to do this business." The heavy hitter upline tells them "You need a bigger dream!"

Some reluctantly accept that they're not good enough to this business and quit with a bitter taste in their mouths, their dreams shattered. Most people just quit because they were never made for this industry.

I never saw the 95% failure rate at the beginning of my MLM career. In my first company, the people always dressed the part and spoke the part at company meetings. I realise now they were just pretending. I doubt they are making any money right now. But they'll continue to "fake it until they make it."

Anyway, making a list of friends and family just doesn't work for 90% of people. Most people can't build a business constantly chasing down people. They'll eventually get worn out, physically, emotionally and psychologically. The two-letter word, "NO", has taken more people out of this industry than any other in English language.

And the heavy hitters just tell you to get more "NO's", and get a bigger dream so they won't hurt as much. It's an all brawns and no brains approach. They know that you don't have a chance of success, but at least if they can harvest some of your friends, their efforts in sponsoring you would have been worth it.

They don't care that your friends are screening your calls, they don't care that your credit cards are maxed out on their worthless tools, they don't care that you're not having fun and that you think of yourself as a "Loser".

It's fun when you're building this business right. You know, it's pretty cool when people are coming to you, asking for more information about your business. It's real tough (not) when you're consistently getting orders from people who love the product you're selling.

The name of game is target marketing. Talking only to people who already want what you have to offer. It's a lot easier to sell a burger to someone who's hungry than someone who's not, wouldn't you agree?

But somehow network marketing companies and their leaders have a real aversion to teaching you how to market properly. Maybe it's because teaching people how to market themselves to attract the hungry crowd is "not duplicatable". Well I'm telling you right now that is bunch of bull crap.

Learning target marketing skills will produce more duplicatable results than writing a list of friends and family anyday. Wayne teaches network marketers generate an endless flow of qualified prospects with powerful, low cost marketing.
