Improve Conversions of Your Sales Letters - A Few Neat Tips

By:

1. Find out what the best style is to approach your readers most successfully.
Some types of prospects will react better to an informative and technical sales letter, while other groups will immediately click away. Others will not take action unless the sales copy is very aggressive and full of sales tricks. If you know your prospects type and what they want most, you'll be able to write your letter in the style that will convert best.

2. "How To..." headline.
It may seem everyone is using this type of headline and probably almost everyone is - with good reason! Your visitors will immediately believe that you are going to help them when they see the words "How to..." They believes you are about to teach them something and they will have a natural inclination to keep reading.

3. Replace you "Submit buttons" with "Call to Action" buttons.
Don't waste the space on your button by using the generic term "Submit". Use it to make a final call to action to drag that doubting prospect over the line. For example, if he's going to opt-in for a free report; have the button say, "Yes! Send me my report NOW!" This is so much more exciting than "submit...".

4. Analyze successful ads.
Analyze any successful ad you can find. How do professional ad agencies persuade prospects? Especially pay very close attention to ads for products and services that your targets are already buying. You can then steer your sales letter in the same proven direction.

5. Turn features into benefits.
This is old school rehash but o so powerful. Make two lists, one with the benefits of your product, the second one with the features. Now add to the first list by transforming the features into more benefits. Since benefits sell products way better than features, this will up your conversion rate. And by converting features into benefits, you are focusing more on your client than on your product.

6. Show your passion.
Make your prospect feel that you love your product. Do this by putting your excitement in your sales letter. The best sales person is a sales person that is excited about what he is offering, as it will get potential buyers excited as well. Your sales copy should be exactly like that. On top of that, it is easier to sound sincere when you really care about your products. Almost every visitor to your site will feel this immediately.

7. Don't settle for just one P.S. if more make sense.
One P.S. is good, two or three are better! If there's more than one last important thing to add to the end of your copy, by all means, include several P.S. For example, summarize your offer in the PS1, reminds them about the money back guarantee in PS2 and use PS3 for that last killer testimonial to drag the prospect over the hill. However, make sure not to overdo it, too much of a good thing is a bad thing! Don't repeat the same lines from elsewhere in your copy, that will make it come over as a sales gimmick.

8. Create a sense of urgency.
Make your readers believe that they must act immediately or risk losing out. You can include a limited time offer or a limited supply; maybe a free gift for the first xxx buyers. And how about those seasonal specials?

9. Split test your sales letter.
The best converting sales letters are almost always split tested to achieve this top converting status. The most effective way to split test your copy is to start with the elements that matter most: headline, subheadline and first paragraph. Once you get those down to perfection, start changing other parts and analyze the effects on conversion rates. A great split testing tool is AdTrackz. Always remember to only change one part of your copy at a time, how else will you know what change prompted the difference in conversion?
