How Can Link Exchange Boost a Site’s Ranking Power.

By: Cristian Lungu

Exchanging links - How Efficient is is this SEO strategy?

Reciprocation in link building generates probably one of the biggest controversy among SEOs, due to the fact that it can either make a difference or actually break your site's link network. This article is here to scatter some of those myths surrounding reciprocal links.

In this nebula one thing is for certain - Google becomes more efficient at exposing and demoting dodgy link exchanges.

Now, exchanging links isn't a banned practice by search engines all together, but they frown upon abusive, artificial manners.

Here are the scenarios you can apply

1. Making linking partners outside your niche market. In the short term, position in the SERPs will improve relatively quickly but, in the long run these irrelevant linking partnerships will delay your website from incrementally improve rankings.

2. Keeping within your niche boundaries and building connections; quality standards are kept at high levels, but the down side is that link creation process will be sensitively delayed, only providing a handful of reciprocal, relevant links.

Still, keep in mind that it takes time to build a presence online and brand yourself. The good news is you build a solid foundation for selling your product or service.

After securing a considerable number of quality links pointing to your site, it's advisable to diversify your linking sources and even include some low quality ones; and there is no easy alternative then reciprocal links.

This tactic it's beneficial as it enables you to build relevancy for your website by extensively using targeted keywords as anchor texts.

Even authority websites have their own dosage of junky backlinks. Most likely these resulted from automated or overlooked, abusive link building automations.

A good way to use link reciprocation is by conducting mutual promotions, where each party promotes the other one within a piece of content posted on their own site, with the afferent link.

From a marketing perspective reciprocal links are especially valued for being an efficient medium for brand promotion. Still, if you can obtain a one way back link the better.

Then again, this statement is contradicted by our incorrigible human nature that constantly cries the "what's in it for me" exception.

The way around this human instinct is to created high perceived value content that others feel they have to reference; and reference with a FREE, collateral back link to your own site.

An efficient way to promoting your own content is to dissimulate it among other good content resources. Only when your potential linking partner is assured of your trustfulness is he willing to consider your pitch.

Unfortunately most of the links requests out there are turned down. In order for your proposition to even be considered you have to feel, look, and sound like a human.

When to Stop Using Reciprocal Linking

What you should know about reciprocal linking networks:

1. Linking Networkers are exclusively occupied by sites with no natural rankings in the SERPs. Adding to this an unrelated niche and you have a toxic neighbor you shouldn't be caught around by Google.

2. At best, these sites reach 10 pages in length, giving them no chance of ranking even in markets with low to no competition at all.

3. They are a dead give away because they will look and sound spammy. The classic Spam tastes like keyword stuffed title and description tags.

4. Good judgment implies that if you seek better organic rankings you should build it in the real market and not waste time in isolated communities.

Reciprocal links are valuable, but not on their own. They must be included into a coherent link building campaign.
