Five Online Marketing Essentials...Skip These at Your Peril

Marketing online will bestow huge advantages to those willing to learn how to best leverage technology to do it. Unfortunately there will be millions who refuse to learn it.

There are five essentials for a new person to understand when moving to the Internet to market their product or service. Understand, these are just the basics and there is much more to it.

1. What Type of Person Are You Seeking and Why?

To become a profitable online marketer you have to understand who your target market is. There are literally thousands of niche markets on the Internet for one to tap into. Each niche has hungry buyers with credit card in hand, waiting for your product or service to cross their path.

However, before you can offer someone a solution (your products or services) you have to clearly understand their problem. Most Internet marketers when asked the question of who their target market is,will reply, “Everyone”. Wrong answer.

When you go to the dentist with a toothache, he will examine the source and recommend a specific course of treatment tailored to your needs. Same thing online. Research is essential.

You also need to know WHY you are looking to attract your specific market. What is the end goal?

2. Understand Attraction Marketing

Someone who knows what they are doing online doesn't overtly pitch their product or service. They offer people valuable information and allow their audience to take it in.In this way, they build trust. This is the most common mistake people make.The web is filled with trash.Your strategy should be to separate yourself from the junk.

You must always remember, it's not about you. Focus solely on your target market and helping them get what they want. Attraction Marketing works in accordance with certain laws of reciprocity.
Give first and you shall receive. Offer solutions to peoples problems and you will start attracting a following. People will view you as someone that makes life better and someone they can trust.

3. Get a Website And Auto-Responder

A website is a must to be taken seriously.I am not talking about a company replicated site that looks the same as everyone else's. Those are a dime a dozen and they don’t ever rank in the search engines.

You need a blog of your own. A place where you keep your most esteemed content and where people can come and really get to know you well.This will add credibility as well as offer a place where people can come to get information about a specific subject.

You want to be able to keep in touch and build relationships over time, so having an auto-responder like AWeber or Get Response is critical.The person with the longest list and the most valuable dependable information emerges on top. The future profit is in the list of people that have opted in to receive more communications from you.Provide beneficial information for free to capture people's contact information. Continue by providing more worthy content in your email messages to them.

Remember, be a solution provider.

4. The Traffic (SEO and Social Media)

Learn how the search engines and social media function. These are the two prime sources of traffic on the web. You can drive vast amounts of traffic that will ultimately turn to profits if you understand them. The opposite is also true. Inappropriate use will squander your time and not generate the traffic you desire.

The biggest mistake I see people making is pitching their product or service on the front end. Think about how you respond to these types of messages. Most people consider them SPAM and won't even read any upcoming communications from you.

5.Add Value And Make People's Lives Better

The smart marketer knows how to deliver solutions. He or she has done their homework, knows what their target market wants and provides it to them. Those who solve the most problems wins.

If you really think about what marketing and sales is, it’s providing solutions that make life easier for the end user. Learn to master the art of giving freely. When you decide to focus on others rather than yourself, wonderful things will happen.

This is only the beginning, but will provide a firm foundation for anyone starting out with online marketing. There is always more to learn in this ever-changing field. Invest in yourself so that you can go on giving freely to others.
