We design is an open matter and every designer has his own way of going about it. Every web design company has its own set of designers and their own work flow processes. While you would want your website to be the best in the niche, there are certain questions that would need answering. The top five of those are as follows:

Experience: The experience of a web design company is of utmost importance. Look for the fact if they have done any websites in the similar or the same niche as yours and if they have completed the same to the client’s satisfaction, in time and in budget. Looking at the complete design portfolio would help simplify matters to a great extent and you would be in a better position as to what to expect from the web design company. You could also ask for one or two references and speak to them as follows:

a. What are the goals that the client had for the website?
b. How much of the goals were achieved?
c. Ease of work and communication by the webs designer or Web Design Company
d. If the website was completed in time and budget initially set?

Expectations: What are the final deliverables? When will they be delivered? And what will it cost? These are ate primary factors that need to be put on pen and paper. Ideally, the web design company should be giving you the design and coding upon completion. In addition to this they should be capable to finish the website in time and within the stipulated budget.

Management of the website: While designing a website a few futuristic considerations need to be taken into account. The maintenance of the website, upgrading issues and content updates etc. Making a website is not really a major factor. Maintaining it and keep it abreast of all information is essential, especially if you are looking forward to attract customers or doing business on the website. You will need to address the ways of keeping it updated and work out a policy for the same with the web designer or the web design company.

Technology: The technical competence of the web designer or the web design company need to be taken into consideration. There are a lot of technologies that are used to make a website. Depending on your needs you will need to discuss this with your web design company and come to a decision on the technology that will be used to create your website.

Questions: Last but not the least; make sure that your web design company understands your needs completely. Keep all channels of communication open to them, so that they can ask away questions that need answering in the course of designing your website.
