Does Anyone Ever Generate Leads With Article Marketing?

By: Stephanie Deneke

This is a real conversation, this conversation was not recorded, however it is written here in as close to it’s true form as best I can remember.

And considering I just got off the phone and started typing immediately, it’s pretty darn close to being word for word.

To protect identities and reputations I’m going to use a made up name. I’m gonna use Cornelius, because I like the movie Fight Club.

Cornelius: “Yeah, I tried that article marketing stuff but it didn’t work”

Me: “Did you generate any leads?”

Cornelius: “No, and nobody ever has, those that say they do are just lying so they can sell their article marketing course or something.”

Me: “So where did you opt in to my list from?”

Cornelius: “On your blog.”

Me: “Cool, how’d you find my blog?”

Cornelius: “I read your article.”

Me: (wtf? Was going through my head) “cool, which article did you read?”

Cornelius: “What do you mean? You have more than one?”

Me: “Of course, I’ve created dozens”

Cornelius: “Oh, I only wrote one.”

Our friend Cornelius is an excessive example of how article marketing fails. Most people do submit more than one article. However, they still don’t submit enough of them to see results.

In most cases when someone discovers your article they will look for more that you have written. The more you have written the more influence you have and you are considered a resource of a LOT of knowledge.

The reason why article marketing fails people as an efficient form of marketing is because they don’t follow through. When they don’t see leads within their first week they abandon writing and submitting articles. They might submit another one here and there. But nothing consistent enough to get reliable results.

They don’t build up a “portfolio” of articles and they don’t show that they are a resource of a wealth of information and their readers move on until they find someone that has more articles and more information that they are sharing.

There’s another reason why network marketers aren’t getting the results that they hope for with article marketing.

You see, back in the fall of 2009 David Wood came out with this amazing training and bootcamp on article marketing and how he generated a buttload of leads.... thousands of leads. So article marketing works. I want to be clear that I'm NOT saying that David Wood is the reason for everyone else's failure in article marketing.

Trainings like the one he created start epidemics.

It’s like a syndrome that online marketers get. Everyone is so hooked on finding the “secret to success online” that whenever they come across a new-fangled training or product they all leach onto it at once and that method becomes flooded with marketers and everyone gets piss poor results.

Because of their piss poor results they blame article marketing and everyone that uses it.

Now there are some people that are aware of this syndrome that attacks network marketers and here’s what they do.

They stay consistent.

When everyone else gets pissed off , when everyone else goes looking for the “next big thing” that’s going to be their “secret to success”, there are some that stay constant.

They outlast the ones that jump from method to method and they reap all the benefits.

Why?

They stay consistent.

I don’t care which marketing method you use, it takes consistency to make it work.

Dave Wood generated thousands of leads with article marketing, but it didn’t happen in a week. And it took consistent delivery of articles every single day for months straight.

Sound like too much work? Then perhaps article marketing isn’t for you. Don’t choose a form of marketing that is going to feel like a chore to you. Choose one that you enjoy and that fits YOUR personality.
