Convert Online Contacts To Dollars

A lot has been said about online networking using various social media such as Twitter, Facebook, etc.; but there is no reference on how to actually convert these online associates to what actually matters to your business - sales. Read on and find out how you can convert online contacts into dollar figures.

Attract people to you by exuding optimism. Have you ever wondered why there are people who cannot seem to get out of their rut? Because they always think that they are doomed to that kind of life. On the other hand, people who exude happiness and success are like magnets - they attract more people. Now put this in the context of your online social networks and you will get the same results. For instance, if you are in the online printing company, make sure that your website exudes positivism. Share advices and expertise to people who are in search of a good printing company. Offer helpful tips and guides to newbies, and before you know it, people are trying to connect with your printing company because this gives them an idea that you thinking of more than making profits; you are actually there to help them with their online printing problems.

Be guided by the 80/20 Rule. This means that you have to set some boundaries online. Yes, you can offer advice but be sure that you only give them 20% of what you can offer. The advice should not divulge everything because you are giving away too much of your business. You can suggest online printing tips, but be sure that you do not give too much. Beyond 20%, you have to ask for business; otherwise, you will just be taken for a ride by customers who just want to get free online tips and guides. Be sure to be firm when applying this rule. Beyond 20%, you have to be earning dollars from online contacts.

Do not appear to be on the prowl. People are wary with online contacts who befriend them only because they want something. What you want to do is to establish the relationship first. You should get online contacts to trust you first before you begin with your business spiel. Otherwise, you will turn off contacts that when they see you online, they make themselves invisible as a result. Remember that people are smarter these days; they can tell the difference between a sincere contact and one that is out there to make quick bucks.

Most online businesses start a sales pitch before a relationship could even be established. This is no different from an unsolicited email offering you a product or a service. If you are like me, my natural reaction is to delete the message right away. Trash it without even opening it. For all you know, they may even contain virus. For example, if you are a printing company offering online printing and you send an email about print brochures or what have you, your prospects would not even bother to look at your products, much less your proposal. But if you adapt a different tack by establishing rapport first, there are better chances that your offers will be taken in. You can start by listening and asking contacts about printing needs. By doing this, your services and offering will become a natural part of the conversation. This is a better approach than shoving your product down your customer’s throat.

More importantly, make it a habit to always update your site or your profile. People will not be interested in an account which has not been opened for the last three months. The internet is full of people - millions probably. Just imagine this: If you can make one dollar profit per person in the internet, then you are on your way to becoming one of the next Ford’s Top Ten.
