The number of local searches keeps growing with the internet. In this article we shall be discussing a few local SEO tips that you can use now.

One of the simplest methods you can use for local SEO is writing optimized classified ads. This is a very easy way to leverage the local searches in your area because the major search engines really like those kinds of sites and using them a lot is a great way to send local traffic to the website of your business. Start out by listing your business on Craigslist because, out of all of the classified portals out there, it is the most popular. What you need to do is make a regular habit of posting optimized ads to Craigslist to help your business. This ad needs to be directly targeted towards your chosen niche.

The ad should be simple and not loud. When you create an ad put a lot of effort into the title of the ad because that is what will catch the attention of people looking for your business. Your title needs to have your city, state and keyword phrase in it. You can treat the craigslist ad as your landing page, because many times you will notice that it will even outrank your main site. The main goal you should have when you use Craigslist is sending targeted traffic to your website, which is just good strategy. Besides that, there is also USFreeAds: it does not work as well as Craigslist but it can still provide you with a great response since it is a well ranked classified site. You can either try to piggy back your site's traffic from the classifieds sites but your main goal should be to simply use them to send targeted traffic to your business directly.

You need to have multiple landing pages for different locations. For local sites, the rule is to avoid having more than a single listing for one business, but if the business has more than one location, there is no reason not to have a listing for each one. But you need to make sure that each of the location links back to a landing page that is about that particular location and whatever is being offered in relation to it. You don't want to have multiple local listings pointing at the same landing page or the site's main page, as this would make things unclear. Dedicated landing pages work in your favor because they ensure that people searching for you will know exactly who and where you are. This is something that is worth paying attention to, even if it may not seem that important.

It is also a good idea to try to list your business with the Yellow Pages and other directories like them online. YellowBook.com, YellowPages.com and SuperPages.com are all good directories. YellowPages.com gets more than one hundred million searches every month and they offer businesses free listings. On the other hand SuperPages.com supplies its listing to big portals such as About.com and MSN. They also offer free listings but the listings aren't extensive.

If you need to find targeted local traffic, then, you now have several proven ways to generate it. These are mostly simple tasks but they can take you a long way.
