Article Writing & Article Marketing: Another Source of Ideas

By: Jeff Herring

Q: I posted 6 blog posts tonight. Can you re-use materials from your blog and expand them into an article and vice versa without a problem in the search engines or ezine articles duplicate content? I'm putting so much info in my blog that I would like to expound on it for articles while I'm at it and get more mileage out of a topic.

A: Well, first of all, congratulations on your blog postings. Your prolific writing will pay off for you big time.

Now on to your question.

Leveraging your content

Absolutely you can re-work your blog posts into articles. You can use them as is, tweak them a bit, turn them into a list, etc.

What you talking about doing is a form of leveraging your content. One of the great things about writing articles is there are just so many ways to use them. Articles can also be blog post, used in your ezine or web site, turned into an e-course or e-book, and on and on.

Your question also speaks to just how many sources there are for articles. You can use your blog posts, your emails to clients, and your answers to client questions (just like I am doing with this article.)

Avoiding duplicate content

Here is what you have to remember about duplicate content. If you use content from your web site or blog, and you are going to link back to that blog or website in your article, then you have to be careful that the two articles are not the exact same article. In other words, one has to be about twenty per cent different than the other. Some ways to do this are:

=> Edit one into a smaller article.

=> Make one larger by writing more.

=> Turn written out suggestions into bulleted tips.

The bottom line is you do not want the two articles to say the exact same thing in the exact same way with the exact same words.

Keep up the good work, and write away, right away!
