A Few Poster Printing Blunders That You Must Avoid Today

By: Chelsea Nicole

Mistakes are unforgivable in poster printing. With the cost of poster printing as it is today, you must always be sure of all your designs and options before you actually go ahead and hire that poster printer. So before you actually go headlong into this kind of printing process, let me first give you a few examples of poster printing blunders that you must avoid today. Believe me, avoidance is better than actually committing these fatal mistakes for your posters.

1. Printing in black and white – People still think they can pull off printing black and white posters and still benefit effectively in marketing with it. While this is a nice “thought”, when reality strikes, printing black and white posters are actually a big blunder in today’s marketing. They can be good for information dissemination, but for actual advertising, those are doomed to fail. Many other color posters will of course be more colourful and interesting while your black and white posters will be just there, collecting dust and of course getting unnoticed. So you should never try to print black and white posters already in this kind of market.

2. Printing with thin paper – Many people think that it is very cost effective to print with thin paper. Now, this might be true to a point, but in the longer term this is a big blunder. Posters are of course meant to stay for quite a while to do their marketing. Using thin paper in poster printing is a death sentence to your marketing efforts since your color posters won’t last a lot of time in its deployment. That is why it is never worth it printing posters too cheaply, if it means impairing your marketing efforts in the long run.

3. Printing with cheap inks – Another big blunder for poster printing is the in printing process itself. More specifically about the use of those cheap inks. While they are cost effective, using low quality ink prints means that the design of your posters itself may be at risk when exposed to environments that quicken deterioration. The designs will fade faster and become uglier in time if you go ahead with those cheap inks as well. Otherwise, it is best to just spend that money on the best printing inks available at the time.

4. Using clip-arts – Definitely you should always stay away from using clip-arts in your professional print poster. While it might be convenient to just use clip-arts, those kinds of prints are actually too “canned” and too known for it to merit attention for most readers. It is also a very big sign of being an unprofessional designer if you do submit your color poster drafts with these kinds of images.

So you better reconsider your clipart choice and if possible just create or acquire more professional images that are not typically found in the clip-arts library. Believe me, your posters should be a lot better because of this.

5. Using web images – Finally, another big blunder for poster printing is the use of web images. Images from the Internet are hardly ideal for poster printing but many designers still hope that they will work and insert them into their printing drafts. This is a bad move as all the images will look very fuzzy one the color posters are actually printed. So you better stay away from using web images for your color posters.

Great! Now try to remember all these and of course avoid them always in poster printing. Good Luck!
